Neus Canalias (Olot 1976) is a dancer, choreographer and teacher graduated on Dance Pedagogy at the Institut del Teatre (Barcelona). Studied contemporary, classical, and inclusive dance and got a residency with CandoCo Dance Company in London 2010 were did the Teacher’s Inclusive Training. As a dancer, she studied also flamenco, Butoh, Axis Syllabus, Pilates and Modern Jazz.
Since 2012, she´s been working as a dancer and performer at Oriantheatre Dance Company (France), run by the choreographer Mehdi Farajpour (www.oriantheatre.com). She has also participated in community projects such as Eureka – Justice Department
(Generalitat de Catalunya)- giving workshops and performing in some prisons in Catalonia. In 2013 published the book “Danza Inclusiva” within the collection of Laboratorio de Educación Social (ED. UOC) directed by Segundo Moyano and Jordi Planella. Together with Albert Dueñas owns a contemporary dance company in Spain named La mujer del carnicero (The Butcher’s Woman) as a choreographer and performer as well as Innerland Projekt, which promotes dance, creation and diversity. Currently invited as inclusive dance teacher at the Dance Conservatory in Barcelona since 2017. Coordinator and teacher of the dance school EMDC Celrà.
Neus main concern is investigation and re-search of new forms of movement through dance & diversity.

Professional experience as a performer and Choreographer

• Since 2011, dancer/performer from Oriantheatre dance Company (France) run by the choreographer Mehdi Farajpour.
• Since 2014, Choreographer and performer of La mujer del carnicero (Spain).
• 2013 to 2018 dancer of the children’s dance company Imaginart (Spain).
• 2018 “Compartides, el valor social de les arts” directed by Artransforma & Jordi Cortés (Alta Realitat, DV8, etc.), a community project premiered at the Mercat de les Flors (Barcelona).
• 2007/2010 works in different projects as independent artist.
• 2005/2008 Lantana Dance Company (Barcelona) ran by the choreographer Marcel Bassachs.
• 2003/2006 ComoDin A4 dance company (Barcelona). International Festival of Culture of Sucre (Bolívia) and Eureka project with various performances in Catalan prisons.
• 2000/2002 Kejío (Barcelona) a flamenco/contemporary dance company ran by Lucero Cárdenas (Mexico DF).
• 1996/1999 Empar Rosselló & Quentin Clemmence Company (Barcelona), dance, theatre and performance. Productions: “El somni” (premiered at the International Street Theatre Fair in Tàrrega), and “Aigua” (1998).

 

Professional experience as a teacher

• Since 2011 Coordinator and teacher of contemporary dance, hypopressive and creative dance at the Escola Municipal de dansa de Celrà
• Since 2010 Inclusive dance teacher in Spain . Trainer for teachers who want improve inclusively skills.
• Since 2017, currently invited as inclusive dance teacher at the Dance Conservatory in Barcelona.
• 2014/15 “De més verdes en maduren” a community project with people over 65 years (Associació ESMOU).
• 2010 residence with Candoco Dance Company (UK) and did some practices as a teacher assistant with the company.
• 2004/2009 Laura Mas Dance School (Soloist Classical Ballet Nina Novak), Barcelona. Classical, creative and contemporary dance teacher.
• Dance workshops and performances (ComoDin_A4) in the Spanish National penitentiary centres of Brians, Ponent, Joves and Wadras within the EUREKA project.
• 1994 and 2003: la Sala & Rítmica Roser, Olot . Classical, jazz and contemporary dance classes.
